The 10 Albert Embankment Project was a 14 storey luxury business hotel located in the heart of central London. This Crown Plaza hotel boasts an impressive 142 guest rooms, with a spectacular rooftop restaurant overlooking the River Thames. The Construction Philosophy for the New Build of this remarkable hotel was developed around a ‘Top Down’ scenario.

Due to the complexities associated with the construction of the Substructure works and the time involved in completing these activities it was determined that the best build solution to satisfy both the clients critical path together with the overall programme and economics of the build was to work both the substructure and superstructure aspects simultaneously.

Our works included the demolition of the existing Ground floor slab and Basement, the Installation of a new perimeter Secant Piled wall, the Installation of Plunge Column Piles to facilitate Top Down Construction the formation of the new Ground Floor slab and the Top Down Excavation.

We also carried out the design and installation of extensive Temporary Works Propping, the construction of Substructure Core walls, Columns and RC slabs in Top Down, the automated Jump Form Superstructure Core Construction, the siting of Tower Crane atop of the core and the construction of the 14 Storey Superstructure Reinforced Concrete Frame.

We adopted a proactive approach to the project delivery and effectively managed noise and risk on site considering the central London location of the project.
