Battersea Power Station, one of central London’s legendary landmarks is undergoing a major regeneration project.
The iconic Grade II listed building and surrounding area is being transformed into a mixed use neighborhood, offering high end residential living, office space and a variety of restaurants, shops, parks and cultural spaces. Major technology giant Apple will also be creating a new London headquarters inside the famous Power Station across six floors of the Central Boiler House.
Mitchellson Formwork are undertaking the sub structure and superstructure works on Phase 2 of the project. The 156 week project involves the construction of the 3 Storey Basement, Sheet Piling installation, Extensive Temporary Works, Structural Alterations and Replacements, using twenty-six 23 Ton Fabsec Beams.
The superstructure works consists of Slipform Cores, Jumpform Cores, Precast Slabs, Tree Columns and Concrete Topping. The use of 3D modelling by Mitchellsons Temporary Works and BIM team for the Slipform Cores enabled the enhancement of the Temporary Works Design to provide structural changes that refined the Clients Permanent Work Design.
Restoration work is now well underway and Mitchellson are delighted to be working alongside Mace in order to bring the New Battersea Power Station into the 21st Century. This is one of Mitchellsons biggest and challenging projects and the expertise of Mitchellson’s Workforce has been fundamental to the project development.
