K1 Knightsbridge is a stunning mixed use development made up of commercial residential and retail space on the corner of Brompton Road and Sloane Street in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

The 340,000 sq. ft. project comprises contemporary high end retail and office space, 35 residential units and a rooftop restaurant offering panoramic views of the area.

The 7 storey mixed use building will include retail at street level, residential apartments at second floor, office space and 3 basement levels. The 3 storey basement will incorporate retail space, delivery vehicle access, car parking and plant rooms.

The superstructure of the building is a combination of an RC frame structure with columns/walls supporting a flat slab construction and composite slab system supported on steel columns/RC walls. The foundations are a mixture of bearing and raft piles with Basement 3 incorporating a 1200mm thick raft slab. The basement secant piles are temporarily supported by an extensive 3 level framed temporary propping system.

The package of works carried out by Mitchellson  includes bulk excavation, drainage & waterproofing, capping beams, temporary works propping, pilecaps, slabs, columns, liner walls, 1 Slipform core, 2 jump form cores, precast stairs, part demolition and full refurbishment works to an existing listed building and an extensive structural alterations package to the existing retained façade.

This beautiful iconic building is being modernised whilst retaining the buildings historic façade to preserve the neighbourhood’s architectural character. The scope of the project is important and beneficial for local residents, businesses, Londoners and international visitors to the city.
